Riedell to Lead AACI CAR T Steering Committee
Peter Riedell, MD, is the new chair of AACI's CAR T Initiative Steering Committee. Dr. Riedell is assistant professor of medicine at the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center. An active clinical researcher, Dr. Riedell serves as principal investigator on multiple clinical trials involving stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies on patients with a range of lymphoma subtypes.
His research interests include better characterizing the safety and efficacy of cellular therapy and collaborating with translational scientists to better understand the mechanisms of CAR T-cell failure and resistance. Dr. Riedell is also actively involved in developing innovative treatment options incorporating targeted agents, along with cellular and immunotherapy approaches.
He succeeds Joseph McGuirk, DO, FACP, whose term expired earlier this year. Dr. McGuirk is division director of hematologic malignancies and cellular therapeutics and medical director, blood and marrow transplant, at The University of Kansas Cancer Center.
