Representatives Fitzpatrick and Wasserman Schultz to Receive Cancer Research Ally Award

Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA )and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) will be honored with the Cancer Research Ally Award during the 2023 AACI/AACR Hill Day, which will be held in person on Thursday, May 18. The representatives will provide remarks during a reception on Wednesday, May 17.

Rep. Fitzpatrick has been a strong cancer champion on Capitol Hill. A co-chair of the House Cancer Caucus, he has led or co-sponsored several critical pieces of cancer legislation endorsed by AACI, including the Cancer Drug Parity Act, the CLINICAL TREATMENT Act, the Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Act, the Knock Out Cancer Act, the Lymphedema Treatment Act, Reducing Hereditary Cancer Act, the RISE Act, the Safe Step Act, and the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act.

Rep. Wasserman Schultz has been a tireless advocate for early detection and cancer survivorship. In addition to being a breast cancer survivor and a member of the House Cancer Caucus, she is currently the lead sponsor on the newly introduced Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Act. Rep. Wasserman Schultz is also a co-sponsor or co-lead on AACI-endorsed bills including the Lymphedema Treatment Act and the Reducing Hereditary Cancer Act.
