The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer through patient care, research, and education. The UACC is seeking candidates for a Project Management Manager position.
The Project Management Manager (PMM) is responsible for leading the project management team within the Administrative unit of the University of Arizona Cancer Center. The PMM develops and directs project management operations and strategic planning to meet Cancer Center goals. Provides overall strategic governance for projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools used for effective project delivery. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the Cancer Center. The PMM is a critical and essential role within the Cancer Center, ensuring all projects and programs are performing at maximum efficiency to meet the high expectations and requirements related to the External Advisory Board (EAB) and the successful renewal of the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), both of which are essential to the continued success of the UACC.

Duties & Responsibilities
Direct and lead the development of the vision and strategy for projects, collaborating with appropriate parties to understand the purpose, scope, goals, objectives, timing, resources, etc., and tailor the project management techniques and approaches to the type of project.
Lead and supervise the project management team to complete assigned projects on time, to specifications, and with accuracy and efficiency.
Establish methodologies to set productivity and quality targets and to assess results for all projects.
Respond to escalated project issues that may impede project delivery and coordinates solutions.
Monitor and analyze project metrics to identify weaknesses or challenges and propose operational improvements and cost savings for future projects.
Initiates, plans, executes, monitors, and completes projects related to processes, procedures, and systems on time and within budget, with a specified beginning and end.
Directs projects from conception to completion or until fully operational.
Determines timing and sequencing of steps required to achieve plans, and evaluates progress throughout and makes appropriate adjustments.
Plans and directs operations for projects, providing oversight for any combination of human resources, administration, financial, IT, communications and outreach, facilities and other activities.
Develop and manage the Master Project Schedule; actively track each aspect of the project performance.
Direct the design and development of project knowledge resources (e.g. databases, documentation, policies and procedures).
Oversee standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
Ensure project documentation and logistics are kept up to date and communicated with leadership as well as all team members.
Provide presentations on project updates, project cycle, and expected results.
Identify, implement, and use project management applications and software to support ongoing project management efforts.
Develop expertise and practical knowledge of the tool to be able to provide support for users requiring assistance in using the application.
Provides guidance and training on work standards and expected outcomes.
Accountable for planning and evaluating performance, staff training and development, recruitment and may contribute to pay recommendations recommending pay actions, subject to policy.
Develops and manages the annual project management budget, monitoring, analyzing, forecasting and reporting.
Communicates direction from leadership and articulates impact on staff work objectives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of Project Management methodologies.
Proficient with project management software.
Ability to manage and build teams.
Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
Knowledge of project scheduling process including scheduling, deadlines, deliverables, and resource and risk management.
Ability to effectively manage project budgets.
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to distill information and results into simple concepts and actions for a variety of audiences.
Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve practical problems.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of project & program management processes and methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience, including three (3) years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
Preferred Qualifications * Experience with multiple project and program management tools.
* MA in project management or related field.
* Project Management certification such as PMP, Agile, Greenbelt, Light Six Sigma, or Scrum.
