Job Summary

UT Southwestern is hiring a Manager of Operations to join the Simmons Cancer Center (SCCC). As the Manager of Operations, you will report to the Associate Director for SCCC Clinical Research and be responsible for evaluating the programmatic activities for all oncology clinical trials at UT Southwestern. As a manager of operations for clinical research, you will be in a leadership position that supervises disease-oriented team clinical research managers and helps to support the research studies within the Simmons Cancer Center.

Experience & Education

·         Master’s degree in science, social science, healthcare administration, or a related field

·         Five (5) years of experience managing clinical trials, required

·         Experience managing Oncology clinical trials, required

·         Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Master’s degree

Job Duties

·         Oversee the organizational and operational activities of the Disease-Oriented Teams (DOTs).  Develop performance standards and expectation for DOT managers and teams, and periodically assess the attainment of these standards.

·         Consult with DOT managers and faculty leaders to set performance expectations for research nursing and technical staff managing oncology clinical trials.  Works with education/trainer to develop and tailor training needs.

·         Maintain peer-level working relationships with faculty and clinical managers across to oversee the conduct of oncology clinical trials.  Help cover duties of DOT managers in their absence.

·         Oversee the financial and administrative resources available for the management of clinical oncology trials by DOTs, working closely with Cancer Center leadership, staff and faculty from various departments with UTSW Medical Center. 

·         Develop and implement best practices for DOT compliance and assurance.
