The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and Nebraska Medicine seek a collaborative and visionary leader to serve as the director of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Center. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a new director to propel a rapidly expanding cancer center to its next phase for research and cancer care, positioning it as amongst the nation's top institutions.
The incoming director will help substantially grow research and clinical programs of excellence, and will play a key role as a voice for promoting cancer prevention and care in the community. Candidates should hold an MD and/or PhD and possess significant leadership experience at the chair, division chief, associate director, director, or program leader level, gained within an academic medical center and/or cancer center/institute. The successful candidate will have a strong personal track record of scholarship and continuous funding, ideally with an NCI-funded research program, and be eligible for appointment as a full professor. The next director also should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically with a vision of how to develop cancer care, research, and services for the future.

The cancer center coordinates basic and clinical cancer research, patient care, and educational programs, and facilitates the application of new knowledge about the etiology, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer. The center has more than 200 members, and the director also leads the Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer, an academic unit of UNMC with more than 25 faculty.
