CRI Welcomes New Steering Committee Chair-Elect, Members

Carrie Lee, MD, MPH, medical director of UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Centerís Clinical Protocol Office, has been appointed the chair-elect of AACIís Clinical Research Initiative (CRI) Steering Committee. She will replace current chair Paul Martin, MD, in 2017.

Three new CRI steering committee members have also been appointed: Theresa Cummings RN, MS, Director of Clinical Research Operations and Compliance, University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center; Ashley Lee Baker, BS, CCRP, Senior Vice President of Research Operations at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer; and, Kristi Moffett, MPH, Senior Director, Clinical Research, Moffitt Cancer Center. The new membersí terms start October 1, 2016.

Dr. Lee oversees clinical, regulatory, compliance, financial and data management for all of the therapeutic clinical trials at Lineberger. She has a passion for providing compassionate oncology care, leading and excellent team of clinical trials staff, as well as advancing the science behind the development of new anti-cancer treatments.

Now in its eighth year, AACIís Clinical Research Initiative pursues a variety of objectives, including developing better methods to disseminate information across cancer centers, identifying and addressing clinical research challenges, and measuring progress.

A CRI report, "Charting A Path to Improved Cancer Clinical Research", was released in July. The report chronicles the activities and progress of the AACI Clinical Research Initiative since it was established in 2009, and highlights its contributions to enhancing the efficient implementation of cancer clinical trials and improving patient care at AACI cancer centers.
