AACI's Physician Clinical Leadership Initiative (PCLI) will host a webinar titled "Partners in Progress: Engaging Patient Advocates in Research and Clinical Trials" at 12:00 pm eastern time on Thursday, December 18.
This webinar will explore how patient advocates—or patient partners—can meaningfully shape cancer research by bringing lived experience, diverse perspectives, and community insight to the table. A panel of trained patient partners will share practical strategies for involvement in grant applications and clinical trial development, while a principal investigator will highlight the value of these collaborations in advancing successful research. Together, they will discuss best practices, lessons learned, and actionable steps for researchers and institutions seeking to strengthen partnerships and improve outcomes for patients.
The webinar will be moderated by Lee Wilke, MD, University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. Presenters are Mary Pat Berry, University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center; Jane Perlmutter, PhD, MBA, Gemini Group; and Patty Spears, BS, FASCO, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
This session also marks the launch of a new collaboration between AACI and Medlive, a trusted leader in expert-led digital medical education. Beginning with this webinar, all AACI webinars will be hosted through Medlive’s platform. Webinars will remain free to attend, and participants will simply need to create a free Medlive account to register and join future sessions. Medlive partners with medical centers, advocacy groups, and professional societies to deliver high-quality educational programming that empowers clinicians, patients, and caregivers with timely insights across a range of diseases.
