Position Overview
Yale Cancer Center (YCC), an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, seeks a collaborative and strategic leader to serve as Clinical Trial Office (CTO) Medical Director.
The Medical Director sets the direction and is responsible for ensuring the quality of services provided by the Clinical Trial Office (CTO). This role works closely with the Administrative Director for the CTO.
The CTO Medical Director serves as a key member of the cancer center leadership team and works closely with faculty, administrators, and institutional partners to advance YCC's research mission and support continued excellence in cancer research. The Medical Director reports to the YCC Deputy Director for Clinical Sciences.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and optimize CTO service delivery, clinical research capacity, performance, and time-to-activation metrics.
- Contribute to strategic planning, growth initiatives, clinical research leadership committee activities, External Advisory Board preparation, and NCI P30 Cancer Center Support Grant activities.
- Serve as a key liaison among faculty, hospital/clinical leadership, and CTO staff to resolve issues, strengthen collaboration, and improve satisfaction with CTO services.
- Support CTO administrative leadership, including workload management, resource allocation, staffing, and organizational effectiveness.
- Develop and monitor the CTO budget, assess resource needs, and advocate for appropriate staffing and financial resources to support growth and performance
Qualifications
- Board-certified oncologist with a record of achievement for appointment at the level of professor or associate professor
- Accomplished record as an clinical investigator, including peer-reviewed publications recognized for their excellence.
- Demonstrated generosity of spirit in the mentoring and development of others.
- Proven stewardship of finances and resources.
- Ability to work effectively in teams and to build teams.
- Vision for future directions and the related ability to inspire and develop others.
- Ambition to create a CTO that is a global leader in the integration of research, education, and clinical research to equitably care for individuals and populations in a rapidly changing healthcare landscape.

The Cancer Center’s CTO employs approximately 220 staff members who support over 300 actively enrolling interventional treatment trials conducted at the New Haven campus and 13 network sites across Connecticut.
