AACI's Physician Clinical Leadership Initiative (PCLI) will host a webinar titled
“Innovating Cancer Genetics Programs: From Pharmacogenomics to Longitudinal Prevention” at
1:00 pm eastern time on
Tuesday, September 15.
Precision oncology continues to evolve beyond genomic testing alone, requiring coordinated partnerships among genetic counselors, physicians, pharmacists, and clinical teams to ensure patients receive the full benefit of genomic information. Developing these integrated programs presents both significant opportunities and implementation challenges for cancer centers.
In this webinar, leaders from Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, UT Southwestern Medical Center, will share how they built a comprehensive cancer genetics and pharmacogenomics program spanning hereditary cancer risk assessment, pharmacogenomic-guided prescribing, and longitudinal cancer prevention. Speakers will discuss the development of standardized clinical workflows, including collaboration with pharmacy for pharmacogenomic testing implementation, and development of the Genetic Cancer Prevention Clinic, a longitudinal genetic cancer risk care clinic.
The discussion will highlight lessons learned from implementing these quality improvement initiatives, barriers encountered in development, and the role of multidisciplinary collaboration in advancing precision medicine. Presenters will share early program outcomes and discuss how integrated genetics services can improve patient care while supporting long-term cancer prevention and organizational growth.
The webinar will be moderated by
Jason Fleming, MD. Presenters are
Sara Pirzadeh-Miller, MS, CGC;
Christine Hong, PharmD, MBA, BCOP; and
Rachel Wooldridge, MD.
