AACI Seeks CRI Steering Committee Nominations

The AACI Clinical Research Innovation (CRI) Steering Committee is seeking nominations. The CRI Steering Committee helps guide and implement activities across AACI cancer center clinical trials offices. The current CRI Steering Committee members will vote, and one (1) chair-elect and three (3) new members will be elected to the steering committee. 

Chair/Chair-Elect Criteria and Responsibilities
  • Begin a 1-year term as chair-elect in October 2026 followed by a 2-year term as steering committee chair beginning in October 2027
  • Hold the position of medical director of a clinical trials office or an equivalent position
  • Be widely recognized by the cancer community for their achievements in cancer research and leadership and has been engaged in past AACI CRI annual meetings, working groups, and related projects
  • Be knowledgeable of both clinical research policy and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) guidelines 
  • Preside as chair at CRI steering committee meetings, in-person CRI meetings, the AACI/CCAF annual meeting, AACI Corporate Roundtable meetings, ad hoc meetings, and workshops
  • Work with AACI leadership to appoint working groups to carry out the objectives of CRI
  • Be responsible for reporting the outcomes of CRI to AACI leadership and members as requested
Steering Committee Member Criteria and Responsibilities
  • Begin a 3-year term in October 2026
  • Be closely involved with clinical trial operations at their cancer center and aware of emerging issues in clinical research
  • Hold hold a senior leadership position within the clinical trials office (director, assistant director, executive director, senior manager, or medical director).
  • Be able to attend scheduled CRI meetings, including virtual meetings, an annual in-person CRI planning meeting, ad hoc meetings, scheduled workshops or symposia, and roundtable or breakout sessions at conferences
  • Lead working group activities and engage CRI participants to carry out the objectives of CRI, as designated by the AACI Programs & Education team

Approximate time commitment:

  • Participate in 1-hour monthly virtual meetings
  • Attend a 4-hour virtual planning meeting in the fall 
  • Attend the 3-day annual AACI CRI meeting and moderate at least 1 session 
  • Participate in virtual planning calls for sessions (roughly 1 hour each)
  • Participate voluntarily in other ad-hoc/projects throughout the 3-year term (variable)

All AACI cancer center members are welcome to submit nominations until 5:00 pm Pacific time on Wednesday, July 1.
