The Markey Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center, is seeking a highly accomplished, dynamic and inspirational leader for an Associate Director of Administration. This position will be a member of the Markey’s senior leadership team and work to advance the goals and objectives of the center. Working closely with the Cancer Center Director and other senior leaders, the Associate Director of Administration will have primary authority of overseeing all budgetary, administrative, and operational aspects of the center including the administrative support services. This position also oversees clinical trials operations including regulatory/compliance functions, human resources (faculty and staff), grants/contracts management, public relations/communications, philanthropy, facility management, and overall strategic planning.
The NCI-designated Markey Cancer Center was recently recognized in US News and World Report with a top 50-designation, and also earned a five year NCI-designation renewal. The Center is located on the campus of the University of Kentucky, and is a part of UK Healthcare. The University of Kentucky is one of only a handful of universities in the U.S. having a major academic medical center with six health sciences colleges including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Health Sciences and Public Health, and a full spectrum of other academic colleges, all within walking distance of each other.
The University of Kentucky is located in Lexington, an internationally acclaimed cultural landscape, and in close proximity to Louisville and Cincinnati. The preferred candidate will have a PhD or master’s degree in business, administration, policy, or other research administration-relevant field. Preferred candidates will also have a minimum of 5 years of administrative leadership experience, preferably within a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center. Other preferred requirements include familiarity with the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Center Support Grant requirements, excellent written and oral communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills.
