The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) invite nominations and applications for the Fred Hutch Palliative Care Program Head.

The position will be dual appointed with a primary faculty appointment in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and a secondary appointment in one of the following UW departments: Medicine, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Rehabilitation Medicine, or Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences (departmental appointment will be selected depending on qualifications). The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch.

Appointment to the full-time faculty at the UW would be at the rank of associate or full professor. Academic appointments at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Associate and full professors hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

This position is paid directly by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to Fred Hutch for information about compensation for this position.

Anticipated Start Date: January 1, 2025

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

· MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent)

· Board certification in one of the following primary areas of training recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (or foreign equivalent): internal medicine, family medicine, anesthesiology, rehabilitation medicine, psychiatry, hospice, palliative medicine or similar specialties. 

· Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington.

The ideal candidate will have a record of and primary interest in palliative care research, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, grants and/or clinical trial experience.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $268,261-$321,218 for faculty hired at the Associate Professor rank, and from $283,143-$368,189 for faculty hired at the Full Professor rank. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance or a sign-on bonus. Other compensation associated with this position may include an Administrative Supplement (ADS) in addition to base pay.
