The University of Vermont Cancer Center and the Division of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the Larner College of Medicine is seeking an individual with expertise in protocol writing for appointment as a Faculty Scientist.  Candidates should hold a PhD degree or MD degree or equivalent, with at least 5 years’ experience in clinical research and development of clinical research proposals. Candidates should have documented successful experience in scientific investigations within a cancer-related field and evidence a working knowledge of clinical trial protocols, experience in oncology clinical research in an academic or industry setting.

The primary role of the Protocol Writer is to support the development of investigator-initiated cancer clinical research and to move an investigator's research concept to a fully developed, IRB ready clinical protocol packet. The protocol packet includes a finalized protocol document, subject consent(s) and as applicable, other study-related forms. Additional duties may include preparing Investigational New Drug (IND) or Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) submission and facilitate obtaining permission to proceed from the FDA.  Candidates must keep current on University and governmental policies and guidelines, good clinical practice requirements, and be able to update protocol template language as needed.
