Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia seeks an accomplished breast medical oncologist and leader to serve as Chief, Breast Medical Oncology.

The Organization

In 2012, Fox Chase joined Temple University Health System, further expanding research and treatment expertise throughout the region. The past few years have seen significant advances in Fox Chase’s clinical, operational, research, and financial performance.

With a catchment area of nearly 7.3 million people across six counties in southeastern Pennsylvania and nine counties in southern New Jersey, Fox Chase diagnoses and treats every kind of cancer and offers state-of-the-art treatments and clinical trials.

Researchers at Fox Chase have won the highest awards in their fields, including two Nobel Prizes, a Kyoto Prize in basic sciences, a Lasker Clinical Research Award, an Albert Szent-Györgyi Prize for Progress in Cancer Research, American Cancer Society Medals of Honor, memberships in the National Academy of Sciences, and induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Today, scientific initiatives span a broad array of nationally competitive basic, translational, and clinical research, with special programs in cancer prevention, detection, survivorship, and community outreach.

The Position

Reporting directly to the Chair, Department of Hematology Oncology, the Chief, Division of Breast Medical Oncology will be responsible for continuing to build and maintain excellence in clinical care, education and research. The Chief will be a key member of a busy clinical group, collaborating within a multidisciplinary environment, and will facilitate the development of clinical research within the Division of Breast Oncology. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, scholarly activity and an active role in the recruitment, retention, and mentorship of faculty in the division.

Minimum Qualifications 

MD or DO, and Board certification in medical oncology.
Eligible for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Previous leadership experience in an academic setting/NCI-designated cancer center
Scholarly accomplishments appropriate for the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with a minimum of 8+ years of experience post-fellowship in breast oncology.
Outstanding clinician with a successful track record of high-quality clinical outcomes.
Experience in the development and conduct of clinical trials and proven ability to facilitate multi-disciplinary research teams.
Understanding of quality and performance improvement
Promotes a team focused approach to care.
Exhibits empathy, humility and compassion.
