The Opportunity: In partnership with the Chairman of Pathology, the Senior Director is responsible for the direction and effective operation of multiple laboratories (all City of Hope (COH) laboratories) which includes planning, controlling and monitoring operational performance of the Laboratory; ensuring compliance with departmental and administrative policies and procedures; ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission, state and federal regulatory agencies; developing and monitoring quality control and continuous quality improvement programs; participating in interdepartmental quality management; and ensuring that specimen collection, result reporting and turnaround times are optimal.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, the Senior Director, Clinical Laboratories supervises the Directors of Cytogenetics, The Clinical Molecular Diagnostics (CMDL), Anatomic Pathology (AP), Clinical Pathology (CP), and Transfusion Medicine.

The Candidate: The successful candidate will have at least ten years of experience with evidence of progressive responsibility for administration of a clinical lab in a similar, complex and matrixed environment. He/she will have a thorough understanding of clinical and anatomical laboratory processes, functions, workflows and instrumentation and have a mastery of fiscal and legal/regulatory aspects of laboratory administration.

The selected candidate will hold a Bachelorís degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Medical Technology or a closely-related field of Science from an accredited institution, or equivalent work experience. A Masterís or advanced degree from an accredited institution and certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent is preferred.

The Community: The City of Duarte is a small, progressive community located at the base of the picturesque San Gabriel Mountains, approximately 21 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
