AACI's Physician Clinical Leadership Initiative (PCLI) will host a webinar titled "Resilient Paths: Navigating Research Careers in Uncertain Times" at 12:00 pm eastern time on Tuesday, September 23.
In today’s evolving research landscape, cancer investigators—especially those early in their careers—face mounting pressure as funding becomes increasingly competitive and uncertain. Join us for an honest and inspiring conversation that acknowledges challenges while offering hopeful, forward-thinking solutions to help physician-scientists thrive.
Attendees will hear from:
A senior leader who has weathered previous funding storms and will share hard-earned wisdom on staying the course through adversity
An early-career researcher offering real-time insights into navigating today’s funding climate, including how career goals and expectations are evolving
An experienced investigator highlighting unconventional or innovative avenues for support – ranging from industry partnerships and philanthropy to collaborative consortia and entrepreneurial approaches
Together, panelists will discuss practical strategies, mindset shifts, and institutional support models that can help cancer physician-scientists sustain and grow their careers – even when traditional pathways stall.
The webinar will be moderated by Bhavana Bhatnagar, DO, WVU Cancer Institute. Presenters are Randall Kimple, MD, PhD, FASTRO, MBA, University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center; Lily Gutnik, MD, MPH, FACS, O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham; and Arsen Osipov, MD, FACP, Cedars-Sinai Cancer.
PCLI webinars are open to all AACI members and registration is free. Please contact AACI Program Manager Hailey Honeycutt with any questions.
