Open Rank Faculty Position Neuro-oncology

Cleveland Clinic Research invites applications for an open rank faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Staff with a research agenda on brain tumors. This position will be part of a new department focused on cancer sciences, home to approximately 35 faculty with research programs spanning neuro-oncology, immuno-oncology, cell therapy, women’s cancers, and cancer pathophysiology (https://www.lerner.ccf.org/cancer-biology/) https://www.lerner.ccf.org/translational-hematology-oncology/, https://www.lerner.ccf.org/immunotherapy/). The faculty member will lead their own independent research and also bring complementary expertise to an existing, vibrant brain tumor research program that spans the domains of basic and clinical science. Thus, along with a strong basic science background, the ability to engage in translational research (e.g., use of human biospecimens, conduct of correlative studies to clinical trials) is highly valuable and preferred.

Areas of particular interest and expertise include but are not limited to:
• Low-grade glioma
• Pediatric brain tumors
• Brain metastasis
• Cancer neuroscience
• Systems biology
• Metabolomics
• Epidemiology or other domains of population science

Qualifications
• PhD or MD/PhD in Cancer Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Immunology, Metabolism, Pharmacology, Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Epidemiology, or a related field, or an MD or DO degree with additional substantive research training.
• Research experience in brain tumor biology or therapeutic discovery.
• Applicants at the Assistant Staff level must demonstrate potential to develop and lead an extramurally-funded independent research program.
• Applicants at the Associate and Full Staff levels must have a strong record of funded research, peer-reviewed publications, evidence of mentorship experience, and potential for leadership.
• A successful record or demonstrated interest in developing partnerships and collaborative relationships with other research laboratories.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, outstanding written and oral communication skills, and strong organizational skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Major duties include:
• Direct high-quality research both independently and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and physicians within the department, Cleveland Clinic Research, and Cleveland Clinic’s clinical institutes
• Design and carry out original research in neuro-oncology
• Develop research ideas into actionable research strategies and programs
• Obtain extramural funding to support and sustain a brain tumor-focused research program
• Publish research in peer-reviewed journals
