The University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, in partnership with Korn Ferry, invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Chief, Division of Surgical Oncology.

Serving as the Division’s leader, the Chief of Surgical Oncology is responsible for all aspects of the Division, including leading and developing faculty, financial and operational management, and creating a welcoming and nurturing environment to support the success of all Division members. They will shape an overarching vision and provide strategic direction that spans the mission areas of research, patient care, education, and service, while representing the Division across the Department of Surgery, Miller School of Medicine, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and UHealth. This new Division Chief will have the opportunity to further expand the Division with new faculty recruitments and is expected to continue to shape the Division for national recognition. Additionally, the Chief will serve as the Chief Surgical Officer for the specialty at Jackson Health System and the Chief of the Surgical Service for the specialty at the VAMC for clinical activities within that Institution.

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Surgery, the ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in collaborative leadership, administrative experience, program development, research, educational excellence, successful faculty recruitment and retention, and engagement across an academic health system. They will have earned an MD degree or equivalent, be board certified in general surgery, completed a surgical oncology fellowship, and be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Florida. In addition, a strong record of research accomplishments, productivity, and peer-reviewed extramural funding, and a track record of program development and faculty and trainee recruitment and development is highly desirable. Candidates must be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Professor level at the Miller School of Medicine.
