Director WVU Cancer Institute
West Virginia University Medicine seeks a Director for its growing WVU Cancer Institute. Leading one of West Virginia University’s “Signature Programs” which addresses the region’s most pressing healthcare needs, the Director serves as the physician executive with responsibility for all aspects of the clinical, research, educational, and prevention missions of the cancer program managed collaboratively under the auspices of WVU Medicine and WVU Health Sciences. The Cancer Institute has experienced unprecedented growth in the past few years and is ready for a new leader to move it to the next higher level. WVU Medicine is the leading healthcare provider in the state and is undergoing significant growth, both in Morgantown and throughout the state.
Candidates must have prior leadership roles in cancer program management such as a Cancer Center Director or Associate Director, Department Chair or Division Chief; carry a national/international reputation for expertise in medical, surgical, gynecological, or radiation oncology; and have a record of recruiting and retaining cancer researchers and clinical faculty members. Work mentoring the research of junior faculty and experience with the application process for a Cancer Center Support Grant gained through prior experience in a leadership role at an NCI-designated Cancer Center is strongly preferred as is experience in fundraising. The candidate should also have a record of peer-reviewed research funding and publication in high-impact journals.
