AVP Ambulatory Operations

The AVP Ambulatory Operations will serve as a key leader in driving operational excellence across clinic-based cancer care and oncology services in our exam and blood draw services. Individual will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations of multidisciplinary outpatient clinics, overseeing, operationalizing service line strategy, aligning clinical and administrative teams, and enabling high-quality, coordinated care. The AVP will partner closely with clinical (physician and nursing) leadership, as well as key functional stakeholders (e.g., finance, HR, strategy, research), to build scalable operating models, enhance patient and provider experience, and ensure alignment with enterprise-wide strategic goals. Key locations include Fred Hutch licensed locations at South Lake Union, Poulsbo, Northwest, Evergreen, Overlake, Issaquah, and any new licensed ambulatory locations.

Responsibilities

General:
Provide unified leadership over all Fred Hutch ambulatory clinic operations
Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care that is seamless across sites and disciplines
Serve as strategic thought partner on clinic design, service line expansion, clinical research integration and access optimization
Lead performance improvement initiatives focused on throughput, efficiency, clinical research, and patient access
Act as a key thought partner to executive leadership on clinic design, workforce models, and strategies
Ensure seamless patient flow between clinic services including, but not limited to blood draw, laboratory, exam, and infusion services
Partner with service line to incorporate and operationalize growth plans and business development; growth plans to include integration of new areas of clinical research and expansion of existing clinical research portfolios across sites.
Collaborate on the strategic planning and implementation of infrastructure, workflows, and financial models that facilitate clinical research activities within the clinic.

Financial:
Manage budget, productivity, and resource allocation for clinic and service line operations
Identify and implement opportunities to reduce operating costs without compromising quality of care or clinical research

People:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of clinic and service line leaders
Foster strong partnerships with physician leaders, nursing leadership, research leadership, and cross-functional teams
Champion a culture of service excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Process:
Standardize clinic workflows, scheduling models (in collaboration with AVP Intake), clinical research implementation, and operational protocols
Establish and monitor KPIs to track performance, access, and patient satisfaction
Knowledge of State, Federal, and Joint Commission regulations. Previous credentialing and management experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Working knowledge of accreditation process and standards, health care and credentialing industry, regulatory and legal requirements, clinical research compliance and human subjects protection, and other national standards.
Support business case development for capital planning and service expansion

Qualifications

Required:
Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field
10+ years in healthcare operations
5+ years in oncology or specialty clinic leadership; experience in both day-to-day operations and strategic planning
Previous experience in Radiation Oncology, Imaging and /or Procedures
Leadership: Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and manage in a matrixed environment
Operational Excellence: Demonstrated success in implementing high-performance, scalable operations
Strategic Acumen: Ability to connect daily operations to enterprise strategy and long-term planning
Change Management: Skilled in leading organizational transformation and driving sustainable results

Preferred:
Master's degree in relevant field
Knowledge of clinical research processes and their application in clinical operations
Experience working in academic medical center

The annual base salary range for this position is from $181,543.00 to $302,556.00, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.  

This position may be eligible for relocation assistance. 

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
