The Tisch Cancer Institute (TCI) at Mount Sinai is seeking an Associate Director (AD) for Research Administration.
The AD reports to the TCI Director, and is a member of the executive leadership team responsible for providing strategic planning, management, and overall administrative supervision for research-related activities at the TCI. The AD collaborates with other senior leaders to advise the Director on strategies for improving TCI operations, promoting research collaborations, and developing a strategic vision that is aligned with NCI goals and requirements and of benefit to the local regional communities.
Roles & Responsibilities:
CCSG Data Reporting. Produce required reports following the NCI format as outlined in the P30 Cancer Center Support Grant.
Strategic Planning. Work with senior leaders to identify high-priority areas of ongoing research and new opportunities for program and shared resource development.
Implementation of Goals. Plan and manage TCI activities to ensure adherence to funding and membership goals/objectives and NCI requirements. Work with the Director to coordinate External Advisory Board meetings.
Program and Shared Resource Oversight. Work with the Director to monitor existing research programs and shared resources. Develop rationale and metrics to support consideration of new programs and shared resources.
Pilot Awards. Oversee the pilot award process.
Grants Management. Directly manage the submission of all P30 CCSG renewals, including supplements.
Financial Oversight. Monitor TCI budget and approve expenditures. Oversee gift accounts and investigator seed funds. Develop business plans for new shared resources.
Management of Staff. Supervise staff who assist the AD in implementing duties and responsibilities.
Facilities Management. Oversee facilities planning for TCI research, assessing needs against short- and long-term goals. Coordinate major construction and renovation projects.
Research Base Growth. Identify planned and newly released requests for proposals from the NIH and other granting agencies. Assist with multi-investigator proposal development (P01s, SPOREs, U grants).
Effective Communications Management. Distribute funding announcements, update the TCI website, and assist with communications to faculty.
Faculty Recruitment. Work with Director to develop and implement strategic plans for the recruitment of faculty in areas targeted for growth.
Outreach. Increase awareness of TCI’s research enterprise, and enhance the stature of TCI within the scientific and medical community.
Philanthropy. Work with the Development Office to identify research programs and projects that are aligned with donor investment goals.
Master’s degree in business, healthcare administration/policy, or other relevant fields
5+ years in academic medicine administration
Knowledge of NCI CCSG requirements and/or experience with NCI-funded cancer center highly preferred
Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills (written and oral)
