The University of Kansas Cancer Center is seeking a Senior Director for its clinical trials office.  

The position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor/Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Trials Office at The University of Kansas Cancer Center. The Senior Director is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the clinical research support operations infrastructure in order to ensure the quality conduct and operations for clinical research at the Cancer Center.   

In the role of Senior Director, this position will supervise approximately 40-50 employees through six to eight direct reports, which may grow over time. Will leverage clinical research-related resources to achieve Cancer Center's mission and strategic priorities as an NCI designated center across 3 medical school campuses and 4 community sites and collaboration with the Masonic Cancer Alliance (MCA).

At the University of Kansas Cancer Center our patients gain access to the most promising therapies, cutting-edge clinical trials and world class research. Incumbent must be extremely knowledgeable of the drug development process, be dedicated, energetic, and understand the big picture.

Primary functional areas of responsibility include: the oversight of regulatory, PRMS (Protocol Review & Monitoring System), Training & Education, Trial Management Services (Process Improvement, Prescreening/Eligibility Managers, Safety Coordinators), Clinical Systems & Reporting, and our IIT (Investigator Initiated Trials) Programs.  Will direct CTO programs in order to meet and exceed National Cancer Institute expectations for NCI-designated cancer centers, including balanced clinical trials portfolio, trial activation timelines, PRMS processes and impact, overall clinical trials accruals. 

Our ideal candidate will have: a Bachelor's degree in nursing, health sciences, business administration or closely related field; at least 8 years of experience in oncology clinical research across all phases of drug development; at least 8 years of experience in leading and managing large clinical research teams; proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate multiple groups to successfully conduct clinical research programs. Excellent organizational, analytical, quality improvement and problem-solving skills. Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information in understandable terms to all levels. Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (including Teams virtual meetings) and clinical trial management systems. Demonstrated expertise in leading multi-site, early and late phase clinical research operations and working knowledge of National Cancer Institute Cancer (NCI) Center Support Grant (CCSG) requirements.
