Senior Director, Clinical Trials Office

The University of Kansas Cancer Center is seeking a senior director for its clinical trials office.  

This senior management role will oversee approximately 80-100 employees through four to six direct reports who supervise daily clinical operations. Individual will leverage clinical research-related resources to achieve Cancer Center's mission and strategic priorities as an NCI designated center across 3 medical school campuses and 4 community sites. The position reports to the Senior Executive Director of the Clinical Trials Office.

At the University of Kansas Cancer Center our patients gain access to the most promising therapies, cutting-edge clinical trials and world class research. Our Clinical Trial Office employs approximately 130 staff and manages approximately 600 trials in various stages of conduct. Incumbent must be extremely knowledgeable of the drug development process, be dedicated, energetic, and understand the big picture.

Primary responsibilities include: oversight and overall direction of research clinical operations, project management and data management (through new study activation, conduct, closure) and liaison with budgeting/finance, regulatory affairs, training, quality assurance and compliance, and IIT Team, CTMS administration, PRMS activities, and clinical pharmacology.

Our ideal candidate will have: a Bachelor's or Master's degree in nursing, health sciences, business administration or closely related field; at least 5 years of experience in oncology clinical research across all phases of drug development; at least 5 years of experience in leading and managing large clinical research teams; proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate multiple groups to successfully conduct clinical research programs. Employ tact, confidentiality, and diplomacy in all discussions and relationships; have exceptional oral and written communication skills. Research certification preferred.
