Research Development Coordinator

Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center

The NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) is a campus-wide multidisciplinary matrix organization whose goal is to promote and enhance cancer-relevant research and patient care at UC Irvine. The CFCCC provides research resources to its ~195 members engaged in research and offers multidisciplinary cancer care to its patients. Through its research programs and supporting resources, the CFCCC translates these discoveries through the pipeline into clinical treatments and interventions that are directed specifically towards reducing the burden of cancer on the multi-ethnic population of Orange County and surrounding areas and advances this new knowledge onto a wider stage to change clinical cancer practice across the country.

The Research Development Coordinator (RDC) uses their skills as an experienced research administrator with a full understanding of complex pre- and post-award grant management and program development in support of the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC). The RDC primarily deals with intramural, extramural, and limited submission funding programs which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. This individual will assist with program development, management, evaluation, and reporting for intramural, extramural, and limited submission funding programs. The RDC researches, analyzes, and develops solutions and demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The incumbent develops new programs, policies, or procedures for possible implementation.  They will interpret, monitor, and analyze information and provide data reports and consultative services to both CFCCC senior leadership and to multiple faculty and staff in other academic units.

The RDC plays a vital role in ensuring Cancer Center members have access to new funding announcements and collaborative opportunities, as well as the resources they need to successfully perform their research. Correspondingly, the RDC manages the work of the CFCCC Space Committee which adjudicates space under the authority of the CFCCC Director. This position is critical to the overall strategic mission of the CFCCC.

This individual will also play a key role in building and maintaining strong relationships with Cancer Center members, advancement offices, and Departments, Schools, and Centers at UC Irvine and within the California system.
