The Massey Cancer Center (MCC), a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to co-lead its Cancer Biology program.  MCC seeks PhD, MD, or MD/PhD (or equivalent) funded investigators with research interests in the cancer field as broadly defined with preference given to those focusing on metabolism, metastasis and/or genomics. The successful applicant must have a nationally-recognized scholarly/research portfolio with a strong track-record of continuous NCI funding.  Scientists with an established track-record of leading inter- and multi-disciplinary teams as principal investigators of multi-investigator projects such as P01s and SPOREs are highly encouraged to apply.

As a member of the MCC senior leadership team, the candidate will provide leadership and direction for the MCC in the furtherance of its vision and mission.  As co-Program Leader, they will oversee the programmatic growth and cohesiveness of the Cancer Biology program, and identify opportunities for strategic growth and development to facilitate interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary cancer research collaborations.  The over-arching responsibilities for this position include articulating the vision and formulating the overall aims of the cancer biology program, governing the program by leading its members with common scientific interests to collaborate towards reducing to practice the program aims, mentoring junior faculty members, and participating in strategic planning and recruitment activities for the MCC. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required.

MCC provides support for a variety of shared resources including Flow Cytometry Shared Resource, Microscopy Core Laboratory, Cancer Mouse Models Core, Biostatistics Shared Resource, Cancer Informatics Core, Clinical and Translational Research Laboratory, Tissue and Data Analysis and Acquisition Core Laboratory, and Transgenic/Knockout Shared Resource. Additionally, MCC has a comprehensive Clinical Trials Office that provides administrative, regulatory, and nursing support for the clinical trials conducted at MCC.
