The Hutchinson Institute for Cancer Outcomes Research (HICOR) at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center invites applications for a full-time faculty member in health economics and/or health services research in cancer (open rank). We invite candidates with expertise in comparative effectiveness research, cancer care delivery and/or outcomes research, cost-effectiveness analysis, implementation science, performance and quality measurement, econometrics, and decision modeling. Candidates should have familiarity with a variety of approaches to address population-level questions in cancer and experience with advanced data analysis methods. The successful candidate will develop an independent research program within our collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
HICOR is an innovative, interdisciplinary research institute with novel programs in stakeholder engagement and oncology performance reporting. HICOR’s Value in Cancer Care Network brings together researchers, patient partners, clinicians, payers and policymakers to advance research to reduce the human and economic burden of cancer. Our Community Cancer Care Report is the first in the nation to report clinic-level quality and cost measures to drive improvements in care. HICOR also maintains a robust data resource linking healthcare claims, cancer registry, and financial information which is available to support faculty research. With close ties to faculty in Public Health Sciences and Clinical Research Divisions, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and the University of Washington, HICOR provides excellent collaborative opportunities for public health and clinical researchers within a vibrant Seattle scientific community. HICOR researchers also have led several clinical and economic studies with SWOG, one of the largest NCI-sponsored cooperative clinical trials group.
Applicants must have a doctorate with postdoctoral training and/or experience in health economics or health services research. Candidates should have experience with a variety of evaluative and data analysis methods and experience analyzing large population databases. Candidates with relevant research experience including a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications and research funding success will be prioritized. Clinicians in any oncology-related specialty are welcome to apply.
Fred Hutch, together with the UW School of Medicine and Seattle Children’s Hospital, is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with active training programs for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Opportunities exist for joint and/or affiliate appointments in Fred Hutch’s Divisions and clinical departments of the University of Washington School of Medicine depending on mutual interest.
