Executive Director and Associate Director for Administration

The Masonic Cancer Center (MCC) Executive Director (ED)/Associate Director for Administration (ADA) leads the administrative functions of the cancer center with a goal of fostering growth and improving quality of the research, education, and community engagement activities of the center.  The Associate Director of Administration reports to the Director of the Center, Douglas Yee, MD.  The ADA is a member of the center’s Executive Committee and is a key member of the center’s leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Associate Director of Administration leads all administrative functions supporting the Masonic Cancer Center mission.  The responsibilities of the position are broad and diverse, encompassing finance, administrative services, human resources, pre- and post-award services, shared resources, clinical research resources, and community engagement.  This position is the MCC administrative liaison for the Office of Academic Clinical Affairs (OACA), University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) and University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC).  In all of these areas, the incumbent exercises independent authority to carry out required responsibilities.  

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, or related field and at least 12 years of related experience. Preferred in the areas of sufficient knowledge, experience, and expertise to navigate federal rules and regulations and learn what would be required in this position

·         Demonstrated experience in managing challenging relationships in a complex, matrix environment and with building and maintaining trust relationships within a matrix environment

·         Organizational skills to lead administrative functions that utilize specialized personnel whose duties span research (basic/ clinical/population), education, and training

·         Demonstrated ability to collaborate with researchers, clinical leaders, and cancer center supporters 

·         Previous experience in overseeing budgets, personnel, and operations 

·         Experience managing and developing a cross-functional team of professional staff

·         Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
