As a Clinical Research Intern at the UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC), you will join one of our clinical units and work alongside our Study Coordinators, clinical investigators, and partners in the UF Health system to support ongoing oncology clinical research.
In your internship, you will be gain exposure to the clinical research process and valuable experience to take with you to your future graduate or professional degree programs as you prepare for your future careers. While participating in this program, you will be responsible for the following:
Transcription of medical and clinical data from a variety of sources related to potential and existing research subjects. This is critical to the research process and requires diligent attention to detail, dedicated commitment to subject privacy, and timely adherence to protocol timelines.
Assisting with sample collection, analysis, and shipping, working with Coordinators, clinicians, and other UF Health staff to ensure proper collection, labeling, and processing. This includes ensuring proper storage, adhering to safety and quality standards, as well as observing all protocol requirements for the samples.
Participating in inspections and audits for subject records, regulatory compliance, billing, and other study related QA/QC processes. This will include facilitating inspections, assisting with the IRB submission process, as well as recording study visits and other relevant transactions for appropriate billing.
This is a year-long, full-time program ideal for new graduates with an interest in exploring and establishing a career in clinical research, healthcare, public health, or similar professions. Participants will work closely with physicians, investigators, study staff, and other partners throughout UF Health and the UF Health Cancer Center. Our interns operate as part of our collaborative research enterprise, which includes expectations of professionalism, critical thinking, customer service, and independent judgment.
Minimum qualifications and application requirements include:
· Proof of eligibility to graduate and/or a recently awarded Bachelors' degree in one of the basic sciences, health sciences, or similar with a cumulative GPA of 3.2. Degree must be conferred prior to the beginning of your internship.
Submission of one letter of recommendation from program faculty, research faculty, prior clinical/research supervisor, or similar and two appropriate references.
Submission of resume or CV and a brief (maximum one page) essay expressing your interest and detailing how this program will help you meet your career goals.
Full-time availability for one full calendar year, during normal business hours (40 hours per week, 8 AM - 5 PM).
Successful pre-employment screening including a background check and eligibility to legally work in the US.
