We seek an innovative leader with demonstrated Hematology/Medical Oncology leadership experience to serve as Chief of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at The Tisch Cancer Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The successful candidate will have a proven record of success, be a leader and innovator of cancer clinical care and translational research, and possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Additionally, the successful candidate will:
Have a successful background in advancing cancer programs from both research and patient care perspectives
Have a track record of working collaboratively with clinical and research colleagues in both leadership and non-leadership roles across multiple disciplines
Have a strong background in managing and mentoring trainees and junior faculty
Have a track record of significant publications and extramural grant funding
Possess a thorough understanding of clinical trials operations
Be eligible for a medical license in New York
Be Board eligible or certified in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology
Hold a current academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor
As Chief of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology for the Mount Sinai Health System, the successful candidate will manage a team of more than 100 faculty who see patients throughout the Health System’s many practice sites. The successful candidate will recruit and retain highly qualified and promising faculty, foster an academically oriented training program that attracts accomplished trainees of the highest caliber, grow the clinical program, enhance the scientific status of the division, expand on our impressive record of grant awards (more than $44 million), and maintain a financially viable operation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of The Tisch Cancer Institute and its senior leadership to maintain National Cancer Institute designation and work toward comprehensive status, by building strong translational research programs, fostering access to robust shared resources, and facilitating the availability of innovative clinical trials with a focus on catchment area-relevant cancers.
The successful candidate will further the educational activities of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology and The Tisch Cancer Institute both on site and at national and international conferences, providing a platform for junior and senior faculty and advancing global recognition of our programs.
The Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai is a vital component of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and part of the Mount Sinai Health System. An NCI-Designated Cancer Center since 2015, it has distinct research programs in Cancer Immunology, Cancer Mechanisms, Cancer Prevention and Control, and Cancer Clinical Investigation (including a robust infrastructure for clinical trials and an Early Phase Trials Unit). It supports current shared resources in Flow Cytometry, Mouse Genetics, Microscopy, Biostatistics, and a Human Immune Monitoring Center.
