The Ohio State University College of Medicine’s Department of Cancer Biology and Genetics, along with The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC), is seeking an exceptional academic scientist and/or physician scholar with proven leadership skills to lead a highly successful Department of Cancer Biology and Genetics (CBG), an academic basic sciences department within the College of Medicine and an integral component of the OSUCCC.
Qualifications for Chair, Department of Cancer Biology and Genetics
The CBG is an academic unit within the College of Medicine at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center that is committed to research, education, and collaboration between CBG and diverse clinical entities, college and university programs, and business partners. CBG plays a critical role within the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the OSUCCC, one of 50 NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers, and one of the few to receive exceptional descriptors following more than 10 years of NCI reviews. CBG serves as the basic science research branch of the OSUCCC, and serves as the tenure-initiating unit for CCC basic science faculty. This relationship allows for recruiting initiatives that incorporate the resources and leadership of the College of Medicine, CCC, and the James Cancer Hospital. Faculty in the department have collaborations throughout the OSU Wexner Medical Center as well as the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, and Pharmacy. It is the aspiration of the CBG to double the overall size of the department in the next five years, given the resources and commitment of OSUCOM/OSUCCC.
