Cancer Center Research Administrator

The Cancer Center Research Administrator is responsible for successful management and oversight of the quality and operational efficiency of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center under the guidance of the Assistant Vice President. In this role, the incumbent will support the Assistant Vice President in Programmatic Support and Development of Research including: research program development, support of research programs including managing personnel for research events, data collection and report generation, process improvement, project management and operational initiatives. Other key areas of focus include programmatic support for Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), Program Project Grants, and Strategic Initiatives. The incumbent will develop a plan for these operations as required and lead efforts to re-engineer and streamline processes as well as monitor the activities to ensure strategic goals and objectives are met.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:
This role will provide oversight to functional leaders responsible for the following projects:

Programmatic Development, Support, and Management of Research: 

o    Assists Assistant Vice President with research program development and special initiatives/projects.

o    Assists in the preparation and presentation of business plans, proposals, documents and formal presentations for external and internal constituents for use as guidelines for research program development and management.

o    Participates in development and implementation of business plans for key research programs, shared resources and other research strategic initiatives ensuring efficient operations and return on investments.

o    Partners with financial operations of Sylvester for determining key metrics for business plans.

o    Develops metrics for effective staff utilization and productivity

o    Responsible for reviewing and providing reports to leadership for decision-making.

o    Oversees/supervises staff that provide operational support for research programs and special initiative implementation.

 

QA/QC Supporting Research: 

o    Establishes and implements reports and tools, analyzing statistical information to optimize resource utilization.

o    Ensures effective communication of quality control results to clinical research and programmatic support research teams for the quality assurance program.
 

Events:

o    Assists the Assistant Vice President with event planning of key strategic Cancer Center Research Events

o    Oversees/supervises staff who provide operational support for key Cancer Center Research Events


Process Improvement:

o    Leads multidisciplinary Process Improvement efforts across Administration in areas identified by leadership. Assures integration and coordination of processes between various departments to assure optimum performance.

o    Provides ongoing evaluation of improvement processes to ensure operational efficiencies are well integrated.

o    Leads efforts to redesign the process and workflow of the administrative functions.

o    Conducts customer satisfaction/ voice of the customer surveys and report on results. Implement plans for improvement.

 
Other:

o    Provides training and mentorship on best practices in Programmatic Support of Research, Process Improvement, Project Management and Operational Excellence.

o    Ensures collaboration of all groups to achieve goals.

o    Promotes a culture of two-way communications and creates opportunities for faculty and staff participation.

o    Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.

o    Other duties as assigned.
 

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:

o   Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. Master’s PhD degree in biomedical discipline degree preferred.

o   Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required.

o   Specific knowledge and experience with program development of multi-PI and multi- project grants/programs required.

o   Knowledge of NCI Cancer Center Support Grant application requirements preferred.

 
Certification and Licensing:

o    Process Improvement Certification preferred

o    Project Management Certification preferred
 
Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000

(Depending on Experience & Education)
