Cancer Center Jobs

Associate or Full Researcher/Professor (Director, Nutrition Shared Resources)

University of Hawai'i Cancer Center, University of Hawai'i at Mānoa

May 23, 2023
This advertisement is for faculty position, to begin approximately November 2023. This position will be funded by state appropriated funds for the initial 2- year appointment; subsequent partial external funding is expected. Continuation of appointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance.

The University of Hawaii Cancer Center (UHCC), an NCI Designated Cancer Center, is seeking an established investigator with research focused in dietary assessment in diverse populations, nutritional risk or prognostic factors for cancer, such as obesity, and nutritional intervention studies for a tenure track position in the Population Sciences in the Pacific (PSP) Program.  The PSP has a focus on addressing cancer disparities in Hawaii and the Pacific and hosts scientists who are at the forefront of cancer research in epidemiology (including nutritional epidemiology), body composition, behavioral science, community-based participatory research, multiomic applications and translational research.  Researchers who may interact synergistically with other UHCC researchers, either because of similar research interests or because they contribute expertise in areas that could integrate with current research activities and who have NCI or other national peer-reviewed funding, are the ideal candidates. The successful candidate will oversee the UHCC Nutritional Support Shared Resource, a P30-supported shared resource that provides dietary assessment and nutritional counselling support to cancer center members for research studies. Among the other core facilities available are ones supporting Body Composition imaging, Analytical Biochemistry and metabolomics, Genomics and Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, and other core Microscopy. Infrastructure also available includes a metabolic kitchen, nutritional education room and a prevention research clinic. Several large cohort studies with extensive biorepositories offer excellent research opportunities for new faculty members. The successful candidate will join a team of diverse and dynamic researchers devoted to groundbreaking research into the underlying causes driving cancer burden in Hawaii and the Pacific, and to developing novel interventions to address cancer disparities.
