The Department of Pediatric Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Division of Hematology-Oncology at Boston Children’s Hospital are seeking an Associate Director of our Clinical Translational Investigation Program (CTIP). This position provides operational oversight for the clinical research studies being conducted within the Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. This position will oversee pediatric hematology and oncology clinical research staff and the supporting infrastructure at both institutions, ensuring quality management and regulatory compliance of staff supporting patient-based research. This position will supervise clinical research managers, and indirectly all clinical research coordinators, ensuring appropriate training, credentialing, employment, and resource management and utilization. This person will play a key role in strategic planning and budget development and management, expense oversight, and financial outcomes for the program.
Supervises and oversees all clinical research managers.
Supports clinical research managers in recruiting and hiring new clinical research coordinators.
Supports and advises faculty and staff on budget development and operational elements of new clinical and translational research studies.
Responsible for systems for charge allocation to satisfy financial compliance requirements for clinical trials.
Oversees space, equipment, and facility utilization for the program.
Manages clinical trial monitoring program for investigator-initiated clinical trials.
Oversees audit preparation and ensures appropriate staffing for audits.
Ensures timeliness and appropriate processes for all internal and externally required outcomes data collection and reporting efforts for programs under supervision.
Leads regulatory and compliance at the program level and participates in regulatory systems and process development at the organizational level.
Leads or participates in change management efforts relative to clinical and translational research.
Ensures uniform training and education of clinical research managers and coordinators at both Dana-Farber and Boston Children’s.
Provides administrative oversight and expertise for IND applications. Ensures study team capabilities and activities related to IND’s held by program faculty and for multi-center trials led by program faculty.
Engages in strategic and financial planning activities along with other CTIP and program directors.
Represents the program’s interests on key committees at Dana-Farber and Boston Children’s.
This position will directly supervise all program Clinical Research Managers, and indirectly supervise all clinical research coordinators within the program.
The Associate Director operates under a dual reporting relationship between the Director and Medical Director of the Pediatric Clinical and Translational Investigation Program.
Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree preferred.
At least 6 years of relevant clinical research experience is required.
A minimum of 3 years of direct management/supervisory experience and budget management is required.
Knowledge of cancer as a disease process, cancer treatment modalities, and the clinical trial process, along with expertise of Federal and State regulations as they relate to human subjects research.
Experience in protocol development, data compilation and analysis is required.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are required.
The ability to lead a large team.
Strong computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office.
