Early Registration Ends Soon for 10th Annual AACI CRI Meeting

The 10th Annual AACI Clinical Research Initiative Meeting will be held July 11-12, in Chicago, at the Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel. The theme of this year’s meeting is "Leveraging Change to Advance Cures for Cancer Patients". More information on the meeting, including the program and electronic registration, is available at aaci-cancer.org/cri_meeting. Please note early registration rates end April 11, 2018.

This year’s meeting will feature a session entitled, "Overcoming RECISTance to Providing Solid Tumor Evaluations for Cancer Clinical Trials." In oncology clinical research, response evaluation criteria in solid tumors (RECIST) is the standard for providing objective, accurate and reproducible tumor evaluations to measure a patient’s response to cancer treatment. Since RECIST criteria are not applied to tumor evaluations outside of a clinical trial, their use can be burdensome for investigators and radiologists.

Panelists will describe how cancer centers implement various methods to obtain tumor evaluations for research trials (e.g., imaging software to evaluate radiology digital content, centralized radiology reviewers for providing research patient radiology assessments, integrating a dedicated radiologist into the cancer program). Costs and reimbursement structures and the pros and cons of each method will be discussed. Other topics on the agenda include lessons learned when writing and running investigator initiated trials, integrating clinical research into clinical care, and managing clinical trials at network sites.

The AACI Clinical Research Initiative (CRI) Steering Committee is currently soliciting abstracts for the meeting which will focus on moving science forward and addressing the challenges cancer center clinical trials office leaders face when working with novel clinical trials. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 5:00 PM PST on Friday, April 20, 2018. More information about the abstracts is available at aaci-cancer.org/cri_meeting/callforabstracts.
