AACI, Oncology Nursing Society Forge Policy Collaboration

AACI and the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) will partner on a clinical trials panel discussion during an ONS policy summit on Tuesday, October 17, from 8:30 to 3:00, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The collaboration is a first for the organizations, which are both based in Pittsburgh.

The summit, titled "Approaches to Patient Centered Care", will take place on the last day of the 2017 AACI/CCAF Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. The summit aims to engage the cancer care ecosystem--patients, providers, payers, patient advocacy organizations, and industry--in thoughtful dialogue around key issues.

The summit will explore opportunities and successful initiatives used in current practice to develop and implement process and outcome measures related to patient symptom experience and clinical use of evidence-based interventions. The summit will also delve into the alignment of clinical trial implementation and advances in precision medicine both in academic centers and the community setting. Issue affecting the nursing workforce and scope of practice will also be addressed.

The summit will be conducted under the auspices of the new ONS Center for Advocacy and Health Policy. More information about the summit is available here.
