Keynote Speaker Named for CRI Annual Meeting; Registration Ongoing

Registration is ongoing for the 9th Annual AACI Clinical Research Initiative Meeting. The meeting will be held July 12-13, in Chicago, IL, at the Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel. Register now! This year’s keynote speaker will be Anna Beck, MD. Dr. Beck is director of Supportive Oncology and Survivorship at the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and an associate professor of medical oncology at the University of Utah School of Medicine.

In her talk entitled “Supporting Patients Through Clinical Trials and Beyond” she will share her experience as both a cancer survivor and a cancer physician to provide her unique perspective on the importance of encouraging clinical trial enrollment--and describe how her personal struggle with cancer has altered her views about supporting cancer patients throughout their disease trajectory.

Dr. Beck’s areas of interest are end-of-life care and geriatric oncology. As director of Supportive Oncology and Survivorship, her goal is to broaden the spectrum of support available for cancer patients and their caregivers throughout the course of a cancer diagnosis.

This year’s meeting theme focuses on how AACI cancer centers are adapting to manage novel and complex cancer clinical research trials which advance cancer treatment and prolong patient survival. More information about the 9th Annual AACI CRI meeting is available at aaci-cancer.org/cri_meeting.
