Required Qualifications
Masterís degree with at least seven (7) years of related experience.

This position will have primary responsibility for management of the Clinical Trials Office at the Mays Cancer Center. The Cancer Center CTO is a shared resource in the NCI-designated cancer center, and includes such functions as clinical investigations, regulatory affairs, contracts and budgets as well as fiscal oversight of all cancer-related clinical trials.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing clinical trials operations, developing and managing budgets, hiring/firing personnel, setting strategy for research operations, and reading and responding to complex federal guidelines.

Job Duties
Oversee successful performance and execution of clinical trials operations, including personnel management, clinical investigations data management, regulatory affairs, pharmacokinetics laboratory and contracts and budgets related to clinical trials, etc. This position is focused on study site activities, including patient accrual, hiring of needed staff, trial oversight, completion of study endpoints, regulatory compliance, mitigation of deviations and risks and financial management of clinical trial activities.
In conjunction with Cancer Center leadership, develop and manage standard operating procedures for the clinical trials office, including automation of processes. Work closely with team members and Cancer Center leadership on reporting required for the NCI, the university and the FDA.
Interview, select and oversee training of all clinical trials office staff; handle performance appraisals and improvement plans, as well as hiring and firing of staff.
Works collaboratively with quality assurance division for ongoing education of all clinical trials office staff, as well as faculty conducting clinical trials and development of best practices for clinical research.
Responsible for the development and management of departmental operating budget as well as oversight for other research related operations including grant applications submitted by the office.
