Purpose of position Manage and monitor the budgeting, financial reporting, and day to day accounting activities for the LIVESTRONG Foundation gift agreement of the LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes and clinical and sponsored activities of the Department of Oncology.

Essential functions Design and implement integrated, value-based payment models for key clinical episodes and cancer subspecialties in collaboration with other disciplines and schools at the University of Texas at Austin. Assist in the definition of a set of meaningful and comprehensive clinical, financial and operational metrics and ensure their regular and transparent reporting to all key stakeholders including quarterly reports to the LIVESTRONG Foundation around the gift agreement to the LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes. Collaborate with the Chief Administrative Officer/Chief Financial Officer for issues relating to finance, facilities and administrative functions. Work with the cancer center Director to strategize, operationalize and oversee all aspects of clinical programs and clinical finance. Manage the day to day operations of the clinical business units. Ensure professional and technical operation of clinic units and that policies and procedures are followed on a day-to-day basis. Responsible for the overall management of the business units aligned with the cancer center. Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports and statements for the Institutes. As part of this process, confirm that transaction coding for transactions in general ledger system is correct. Assist in month-end and year-end reconciliation with revenue cycle reporting to Finance and UT System. Includes pulling reports/data from multiple electronic health record systems. Provide analytic capacity in support of the initiative review process, capital investments, and business and academic program opportunities. Develop the annual operating and capital budgets for the Institutes, providing guidance and support to all departmental personnel. Communicate budget processes and procedures and provide problem-solving assistance to departments as needed. Monitor budget to actual results and prepare variance explanations to explain any derivations from the budget. Assist with preparation of five-year plans/forecasts and financial reporting information provided through regular budget monitoring. Serve as liason and initial point of contact with funding partners. Prepare reports on recurring basis to present to funding partner leadership. Track gift spending and performance milestone related to funding.

Required qualifications Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. MBA, MPH, MPA, MPP, MSc) or equivalent high level leadership experience. At least five years of experience in leadership positions in academic healthcare, hospital and/or multidisciplinary clinic setting. Broad knowledge of financial planning and budgeting, superb analytic, project management and presentation skills as well as demonstrated knowledge of and experience managing financial and capital planning. Ability to manage complicated and complex organizations, including academic medical or health care entities. Experience managing various sources of funding streams. Experience with process management systems and software. High level communication skills. Experience working closely with diverse stakeholders, internal and external partners. Ability to exercise resourcefulness and good judgment in a fast paced environment. Ability to manage multiple streams of work. Detail oriented. Excellent analytical skills, problem solving ability and strong critical thinking skills. Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred qualifications At least five years of oncology specific experience in leadership positions in health related organizations or academic cancer center.

Working conditions May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
