Senior Director of Clinical Research Administration

The Senior Director of Clinical Research Administration (SDCRA), reports to the Chief Business Officer and has responsibility for leading and managing the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) and VICC’s Clinical Trials Shared Resource (CTSR). This role also provides clinical trial expertise and leadership across the VICC Research Network. The SDCRA advocates for faculty and staff to enhance engagement, satisfaction, and performance so they can professionally advance and expand their investigations and clinical trial portfolios.

The administrative and operational scope of responsibilities includes interventional and non-interventional clinical trials, select correlative research and the translation of discovery from bench to patients and community in a NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center – including trials, tissue acquisition, and biospecimen collections for a variety of research programs, shared resources, and clinical research operations, data, regulatory, quality, safety, integrating research into clinical operations, and scientific review. The Senior Director uses research-driven performance measures to plan strategically and respond tactically and resourcefully in relation to VICC and VUIIS clinical research projects and clinical trials, such as pre-award grant activities and renewal of large grants, in particular, the clinical trials sections of the Cancer Center Support Grant, SPOREs, U10s, U01s U54s, NCI National Clinical Trials Network consortia.

Additional responsibilities include working cross functionally with Vanderbilt University, overseeing and optimizing a expense budget in excess of $12M, overseeing the clinical research networking infrastructure with heavy MD collaborations; enhancing business processes and SOP’s with disease teams, Chairs, and Executive Leadership; overseeing the operational management of clinical research expenditures, as well as the generation of new research revenue from industry sponsors and externally peer reviewed organizations.
