City of Hope (COH) welcomes applications and nominations for a Senior Director, Clinical Research Unit (Senior Director). This is an exciting opportunity to support world-renowned clinician scientists conducting leading-edge research toward the delivery of new treatments for adult and pediatric patients throughout the world. The Senior Director will play a pivotal role in supporting this growing research enterprise and in operationalizing the highest standard of care.
As a key leader in this rapidly growing research enterprise, the Senior Director provides strategic visioning and oversight of the Clinical Research Unit (CRU). With the primary goal of delivering state of the art clinical care through the development a robust best in class Phase 1 program, the Senior Director continuously recalibrates standard operating aimed at enhancing interdepartmental communication, collaboration, and coordination of care among disease teams, physicians and inpatient nursing. As one of the primary points of contact for the CRU, the Senior Director collaborates seamlessly with the CRU Medical Director, the Senior Director of the Clinical Trials Office, and the Senior Vice President of Research Operations to ensure the delivery of excellent patient care; the application of the highest standards of clinical competence and quality improvement; the deployment of appropriate resources; and sustainable fiscal performance. In addition, the Senior Director facilitates collaborative relationships among the Investigational Drug Pharmacy, Clinical Research Lab and the CRU infusion team.
As a member of the research operations senior leadership team, the Senior Director of the Clinical Research Unit supports and facilitates an interdisciplinary approach to the delivery of research care. This includes creating an environment in which research collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care, clinical research, and education is achieved. To this end, the Senior Director ensures the continued advancement of the profession of nursing at COH. As such, the incumbent will provide the necessary direction, leadership, fiscal control, and integration of all clinical research protocols and patient care services within the CRU.
The incoming Senior Director will serve as a transformational and collaborative leader who believes in structural empowerment directed at providing the highest standard of care. S/he will bring a proven track record of having applied innovative ideas and best practices to the delivery of care in a clinical research setting within an academic medicine center in support of world-class faculty. A thorough understanding and commitment to maintaining the highest level of integrity is required.
