Wonderful opportunity to join the nationally recognized University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) in a management role as a Business Operations Manager for the Stoler Outpatient Pavilion. Located at the founding campus University of Maryland Medical Center Baltimore, UMGCCC brings together internationally recognized expert researchers and clinicians from the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine to collaborate on preventing, detecting, and treating cancer. Practicing in a multidisciplinary approach, we serve more than 3000 new patients per year, offering more than 200 active clinical trials in collaboration with a host of supportive services.

The Stoler Pavilion houses all the major outpatient services for the cancer center:
• Multidisciplinary treatment programs
• Specialty follow-up areas, such as for medical oncology, hematology and bone marrow/stem cell transplantation
• Infusion therapy (chemotherapy)
• Acupuncture
• Comprehensive patient supportive services, including palliative care, psychosocial counseling, genetic counseling, nutritional counseling, physical therapy and a Patient Navigator

What is the role:
Reporting to the Director of Oncology Operations, the Business Operations Manager will partner with clinical care team members and administrative staff to create an efficient and value based experience for our patients. Under limited supervision, the selected individual provides daily leadership, direction and management to roughly 18 FTE’s revolving around key cancer center functions: Patient intake, Registration, Scheduling, and Authorization processes.

What do we expect of you:
• Demonstrate an ability to lead, inspire and develop a team of individuals incorporating a high level of accountability into the culture.
• Lead oversight of infusion schedule performance and provider room assignments for 26 med onc providers, 4 NP’s and a variety of multi specialists to ensure patient flow and efficiencies are maximized.
• Lead and or participate in various initiatives within our performance improvement, joint commission readiness and governance committee(s).
• Create, improve upon and maintain a welcoming, informative and efficient front desk operations atmosphere that lead to top tier press ganey patient satisfaction metrics.
• Recruit, on board, coach, evaluate and maintain competencies of all staff. Encourage cross rotation of roles as appropriate.
• Develop into an insurance expert and acts as a liaison between the authorization, payer relations, central business office and patient admitting to coordinate inpatient to outpatient transitions.
• Ensures appropriate daily staffing based on workloads, time off requests and staff abilities.
• Collaborate with environmental services team members to ensure we have a clean environment for our patients.
• Create, interpret and monitor various operational performance metrics. She/he will have the ability to leverage data to make informed decisions and or recommendations to improve the practice.
• Intervene with patient service recovery activities as needed. Identify and resolve issues/needs in a timely manner. As appropriate, escalate information or needs to respective physician, clinician or administrative lead.
