The University of Hawaii Cancer Center (UHCC) is a unique National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated cancer center in many ways. It is the only NCI designated cancer center that serves the State of Hawai’i and neighboring Pacific populations, providing access to new therapies through clinical trials. The UHCC has a rich history of mining the many endemic organisms of its land and seas for biologically active new compounds and evaluating its ethnically diverse population to better understand the genetic, environmental and behavioral causes of cancer. In this way the UHCC seeks to be a world leader in eliminating cancer through research, education and improved patient care.

The Clinical Trials Office Manager provides oversight to ensure appropriate research support is provided for projects, clinical investigators, Hawai‘i Cancer Consortium (HCC) Institutions, and community sites conducting cancer clinical trials (i.e., NCI) sponsored, pharmaceutical company sponsored, and investigator initiated trials. Directs program quality assurance by ensuring adequate staff training and operating procedures are in place and complied with. Provides oversight to ensure all regulatory requirements are adhered to. Ensures deliverables are met for all grant funding or contracts awarded to support the CTO roles and responsibilities. Serves as the primary liaison with UHCC investigators and HCC investigators ensuring effective communication and support of the Center’s clinical research enterprise. Serves as the primary liaison with external local and national organizations sponsoring and otherwise supporting the Center’s clinical research enterprise.
