Our 130 board-certified oncology physicians treat multiethnic patients from throughout New Mexico who have strikingly different patterns of cancer incidence, mortality and disparity. Supported by almost $60 million in annual research funding, our vibrant team of 130 population, basic, translational, and clinical investigators are focused on discovering the causes and cures for these cancers, with outstanding research programs in cancer control and disparities; cancer genetics and genomics with community and clinical translation; cancer cell and systems biology; and cancer drug discovery and targeted therapeutics.

We are seeking applicants with experience and expertise in information technology relevant to health care delivery and the conduct of biomedical research, management and storage of large scale data, data warehousing and development and oversight of integrated data systems, incorporating clinical (EMR) and biomedical research data. The successful applicant will serve as the Chief Informatics Officer (CIO) of the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC), responsible for development and implementation of all UNMCCC informatics and computational science activities, including development and execution of an integrated cancer informatics data system and architecture integrating cancer clinical data (EMR), as well as data from patient outcomes, epidemiologic and exposure data, tissue repositories, cancer clinical trials data, and laboratory data generated from clinical laboratory systems as well as biomedical and clinical research (genomic sequencing, imaging, etc.). This effort is designed to stimulate cancer research and improve clinical care. The successful applicant will work closely with a team of advisors representing UNMCCC Senior Leaders, faculty and IT staff to develop short and longterm analytic and data reporting priorities and to develop and analyze Big Data Analytics integrated platforms that store, manage, analyze and govern 100 percent of enterprise data with high query performance. He or she will also oversee the UNMCCC Information Technology team who provide support for all cancer clinical and research activities.
